GET ON YOUR BIKE IN TRALEE!

The start of the Greenway has been open to cyclists since 2013,  it begins opposite Tralee’s Casement Train Station keep an eye out for the Green Arch marking the start and continues out to to the edge of Tralee town to Mounthawk. The section of Greenway from Mounthawk to Fenit is currently under development and is scheduled to open in June 2022.  This route is following the disused train line that travelled from Tralee to Fenit Harbour.

Once you embark out towards Fenit there are a few stops along the way if you haven’t packed your lunch. In Spa Village there are two restaurants the Oyster Tavern and Spa Seafoods and closer to Fenit the newly opened Navo Café is open.

Once you arrive in Fenit Village park up your bike and discover this quaint seaside village. For food and refreshments there’s Mike’s Beach Shop and Café or The West End Bar and Restaurant. There are great amenities in the village with a playground, public toilet facilities and ample parking.

Explore the pier where local fishing enthusiasts fish from or admire the boats docked in the Marina. At the end of the pier there is a magnificent bronze monument of Brendan the Navigator, climb the steps up and enjoy breath-taking views of the bay. Stroll the path along the beach or enjoy a picnic on one of the picnic benches overlooking the Atlantic and Fenit Lighthouse. At the end of the path you’ll find old diving boards and changing area, a location popular with locals for a sea swim. Fenit beach has been awarded Blue Flag Status and during Summer months a lifeguard is present.

If you are looking for an activity while in Fenit, there are sailing courses, Stand Up Paddling Boarding, Kayaking and sea swimming to enjoy!

If you are bringing your own bike we are happy to store it in our secure bike storage unit and we also have a drying room where you can dry out any items. If you wish to rent a bike there are many local bike rent suppliers available.
